Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13, 1989) is an American country-pop singer-songwriter and actress who was a guest advisor for season 7 of the Voice USA.
Born in Reading, Pennsylvania and raised in nearby Wyomissing, Swift released her self-tited debut album at age 16, which earned her a Grammy nomination. She has gone on to release 4 more albums, all of them going platnuim.
Songwriting style and criticismEdit
Swift tends to write narrative-style songs based on her personal experiences. However, those same songs have resulted in her getting criticized by some for being mean-spirited and explotive, and songs that she has written about her ex-boyfriends, which include singer-actor Joe Jonas, actor Taylor Lautner, and singer-songwriter John Mayer, have gotten her ridiculed by bloggers, many of whom have accused her of dating guys like them in order to write songs about them.
The Voice USAEditSwift, like Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin before her in season 6, was a guest advisor to coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, and Pharrell Williams during the Knockout Rounds during season 7 of the Voice.
The producers' decision to have Swift be an advisor caused anger among multiple critics who claimed that Swift can't sing. Many called it a desperate publicity stunt while others claimed that it again took the focus off the contestants, an accusation the show has dealt with before in the past.
