Season 8 
of the Voice USA premiered on NBC on February 23, 2015 and ended on May 19, 2015. Carson Daly returned as the host as did coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Pharrell Williams. Christina Aguilera returned to the show after having been off for 2 seasons.


This season was won by 16-year-old New York soul singer Sawyer Fredericks. His win is the first for his coach, Pharrell Williams. Sawyer is also the youngest winner in the show's history.

Death of Anthony RileyEdit

On June 5, 2015, singer Anthony Riley, a member of Team Pharrell, was found dead in his apartment. Riley, a street performer from Philadelphia, had tried out for the show and made Pharrell Williams's team but withdrew after making it to the Knockout Rounds to enter rehab for substance abuse problems. He later returned to Philadelphia and started work on an album. 

Riley's death was ruled a suicide.

Notable past contestantsEdit

  • Trent Harmon, who made it to the Blind Auditions but didn't turn a chair, later tried out for and won the final season of American Idol on April 7, 2016.
