Season 3 of The Voice USA premiered on NBC on September 10, 2012 and ended on December 18, 2012. Carson Daly was back as the host with Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green, and Christina Aguilera as the coaches. Christina Milan returned as the social media correspondent.

This season would be the last for Green and Aguilera, who both decided to take season 4 off to focus on their music careers as well as other ventures. Both returned for season 5.

This season was won by former Hey Monday lead singer Cassadee Pope.

Feud with The X FactorEdit

The show first attracted controversy when Simon Cowell, who became famous first as a judge on American Idol and later as a judge on The X Factor, complained about his show, which aired on FOX, premiering around the same time as The Voice, calling NBC's decision a "bullying tactic". He even accused The Voice of deliberately sabatoging his show even though The X Factor did well enough to get renewed for a third season by FOX.

Cowell's complaints proved to be pointless, however, as The Voice ended up outdoing The X Factor in the ratings.

Notable past contestantsEdit

  • Adanna Duru, who was a member of Team Adam and was eliminated in the Battle Rounds, later auditioned for season 14 of American Idol. She finished in the top 11.
