RaeLynn

Rachael Lynn Woodward (born May 4, 1994), better known as RaeLynn, is an American country singer-songwriter from Baytown, Texas who competed on season 2 of the Voice USA, mentored by Blake Shelton.

BackgroundEdit

Born in Baytown, Texas, RaeLynn comes from a musical family. Her older brother Jake is a member of the Grammy Award-nominated band Leeland. Her interest in country music started at age 11 when she listened to the song "Me and Charlie Talking" by Miranda Lambert, who became one of her idols. RaeLynn graduated from high school in 2011.

The VoiceEdit

RaeLynn tried out for season 2 by singing the Pistol Annies hit "Hell on Heels", resulting in Adam Levine and Blake Shelton turning around for her. She eventually chose Blake as her mentor.

Battle Rounds controversyEdit

RaeLynn attracted attention when she beat out fellow Team Blake member Adley Stump in the Battle Rounds. Fans took to Twitter to express their outrage over Blake Shelton's decision to have RaeLynn move forward instead of Adley. Blake defended his decision on Twitter.

Live showsEdit

When she made the live shows, RaeLynn took on "Wake Up Call" by Maroon 5, much to the amusement of Adam Levine, and "She's Country" by Jason Aldean, which became her highest charting song from the show. Despite putting her heart into the song "If I Die Young" by The Band Perry, RaeLynn was eliminated.

Post the VoiceEdit

Since her time on the show, RaeLynn has been working on her music, improving her skills as a songwriter. She debuted her first single, "Boyfriend", on season 3 of the Voice. The song peaked at number 32 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. She's also collborated with her mentor Blake Shelton on his songs "Boys 'Round Here" and "Buzzin". She has also gotten the chance to tour with her idol, Miranda Lambert.

RaeLynn's second single, "God Made Girls", was released on July 1, 2014. She later signed a deal with Republic Nashville and released her debut EP, Me, on January 13, 2015.

New label and new singleEdit

In April 2016, RaeLynn parted ways with Republic Nashville, and in June 2016, announced that she had signed a deal with Warner Music Nashville, the same label as her mentor Blake Shelton. Her first single with her new label, "Love Triangle", was released on July 10, 2016. Her debut album, WildHorse, was released on March 24, 2017. She and season 11 winner Sundance Head are currently opening for Shelton on his Doing It to Country Songs tour, which kicked off in Bakersfield, California on February 16, 2017.
