Pharrell Williams (born April 5, 1973) is an American singer-songwriter, rapper, musician, record producer, and fashion designer who is a coach on The Voice USA.
Pharrell is one of the music industry's top producers, being one half of the production team The Neptunes with his longtime friend Chad Hugo. Besides that, he also is the lead singer and drummer for the rock/funk/hip-hop band N.E.R.D. He has colloborated with artists such as Robin Thicke ("Blurred Lines"), Daft Punk ("Get Lucky"), and Snoop Dogg ("Drop It Like It's Hot"). A long time Star Trek fan, he also has a record label called Star Trak Entertainment.
Pharrell has won eight Grammy Awards, two of them as part of The Neptunes. His song "Happy", from the movie Despicable Me 2, earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song, and the live version earned him his eighth Grammy Award.
In addition to his work with N.E.R.D. and colloborating with other artists, Pharrell has released two solo albums, 2006's In My Mind and 2014's G.I.R.L.
In addition to his music, Pharrell is involved in multiple businesses, primarily in fashion. He owns the clothing brands Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream Footwear. He also owns a boutique in New York City on West Broadway. He also has a YouTube channel called i am OTHER, which was launched in 2011.
On March 31, 2014, Pharrell was announced as a coach for season 7 of The Voice, replacing Cee Lo Green, whom Pharrell had colloborated with on the song "Scream" for the 2013 film Despicable Me 2. Pharrell had even been an advisor to Usher during season 4. His work as a coach on the show has earned him praise from critics and fans of the show.
In season 8, he mentored soul singer Sawyer Fredericks, who won the show on May 19, 2015.
Pharrell has been married to model/designer Heidi Lasichanh since 2013. The couple have four children, son Rocket, who was born in 2008, and triplets, who were born in 2017.
