Dia Frampton

Dia Leif Frampton (born October 2, 1987) is an American rock singer-songwriter who was the runner-up on season 1 of The Voice USA, mentored by Blake Shelton.

BackgroundEdit

Before the show, Dia was previously the lead singer of the band Meg & Dia which featured her older sister Meg Frampton.

The Voice USAEdit

Frampton, despite being scared, impressed at her blind audition with her take on the song "Bubbly" by Colbie Caillat. Out of the two coaches - Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green - who turned around for her, she chose Shelton as her mentor.

Frampton wowed the public with her sweet vocals on such songs like "Losing My Religon" by R.E.M. and "Heartless" by Kanye West. Despite all that and being a fan favorite, she finished second to Javier Colon on June 29, 2011.

As of July 7, 2011, all of the songs Dia performed on The Voice have sold 480,000+ downloads.

Post The VoiceEdit

Despite finishing second, Frampton's first single, "Inventing Shadows", which she performed on the show, debuted at

number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her debut solo album, Red, was released on December 6, 2011. She has toured extensively since then even opening for her coach Blake Shelton on his headlining tour in 2012. One of Dia's songs off of Red, "Walk Away", was featured in a Kia car commercial during season 3 of The Voice.

Second album and Voice summer tour (2014-present)Edit

She had been working on her second solo album, which she had hoped to have done in 2014, as well as her first novel. She recently opened for singer James Blunt on his James Blunt Moon Landing Tour. She was a part of the Voice's first-ever summer tour, which features season 5 winner Tessanne Chin, Jacquie Lee, Will Champlin, and Christina Grimmie, season 6 winner Josh Kaufman, Jake Worthington, Kristen Merlin, and Jake Barker from season 6. That tour kicked off on June 21, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas.

New band and EPEdit

While working on her second solo album, Frampton was dropped by Universal Republic Records. She shifted gears and decided to not work on the album. She instead decided to record an EP with her new band, Archis. Two songs from the EP, "Blood" and "I Need You", have premiered with the music video for "Blood" debuting on June 2, 2014. Archis was later signed to a record deal with Nettwerk Productions, and the self-titled EP was released on February 23, 2015.

She is now a contestant in a top Korean singing competition SuperstarK Season 7.
