Climb Ev'ry Mountain
is a show tune written by Oscar Hammerstein II and composed by Richard Rodgers for the 1959 musical The Sound of Music. It is also the coronation song and debut single for season 9 Voice USA winner Jordan Smith.

The song is an inspirational song similar to "You'll Never Walk Alone" from Carousel. Both songs are sung by the female mentor characters in both musicals. It also shares similarities with the song "Something Wonderful" from The King & I in which both songs are played at a broad tempo and accompanied by heavy chords in the orchestral score.

Shirley Bassey versionEdit

In 1961, Welsh singer Shirley Bassey released this song as part of a double A-side single along with "Reach for The Stars". The song became a hit for her, reaching number 1 in the UK and staying there on the charts for 18 weeks.

Jordan Smith versionEdit

Jordan Smith performed this song on the Decmeber 14, 2015 performance episode of the Voice. He received a standing ovation as well as praise. Many credit this song along with his rendition of "Mary, Did You Know?" with securing his victory even though many felt that his victory was obvious from the time of his blind audition.

Chart postitionEdit

With 50,000 downloads sold, the song peaked at number 72 on the Billboard Hot 100.
