Christopher James John "Chris" Martin 
(born March 2, 1977) is an English singer-songwriter and musician who is best known as the lead singer of the band Coldplay. He was an advisor to the coaches on season 6 of the Voice USA in 2014.


Born in Whitestone, Exeter, Devon, England, Martin formed his first band while in prep school. He co-founded the band Coldplay while in college. Their first album, Parachutes, was released in 2000  and went platnuim in both the UK and the United States. It earned them a Grammy Award in 2002 for Best Alternative Music Album. Their next five albums have also achevied success.

Personal LifeEdit

Martin was married to Academy Award-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow from 2003-2014. The couple have two children, daughter Apple (born May 2004) and son Moses (born April 2006). He was later romantically linked to another Oscar-winning actress, Jennifer Lawrence.

The VoiceEdit

In 2014, it was announced that Martin would be an advisor to coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira, and Usher during the second part of Battle Rounds during season 6. His work was so well received by critics and fans that it caused speculation that Martin would possibly join the show as a coach. He denied those reports.
